Quick answers to what we hear most often.

Is BidMyCommunity really free for managers?

Yes — 100%, with no asterisks. We don't charge managers for posting projects, awarding, messaging, or any premium features. Our entire revenue is the 2.5% platform fee paid by contractors when they win a job.

Can I post a project without picking a community first?

No. Every project belongs to a community so we can route it to contractors in the right area and your board can keep records together. But adding a community takes about 30 seconds — you can do it from inside the project wizard.

How many bids will I get?

Most projects get 3–5 bids in the first week. It varies by trade and location — common trades in big metros may get 8+; specialty trades in rural areas may get 2. If you're not getting enough, try extending the bid window or inviting contractors directly.

What if I need to cancel a project?

You can close a project anytime from the project page. Open bids get notified. If you've already awarded, closing the project on BidMyCommunity doesn't cancel your contract — that's a separate conversation with the contractor.

Can I edit a project after posting?

Yes — description, budget, dates, documents. Anyone who's already bid gets notified so they can update their bid. You can't change the core community or trade categories without reposting.

Do you screen contractors?

We verify license and insurance information that contractors upload, but we don't endorse or guarantee any contractor. Treat the platform like a marketplace — your due diligence is still your due diligence.

How long do projects stay open?

By default, projects accept bids for 14 days. You can extend, shorten, or close anytime from the project settings.

Can two managers from the same community use the platform?

Yes. Invite them as teammates from Settings → Team. See Can I add board members or admins? for role details.

What happens to old projects?

Awarded and closed projects stay in your archive forever. You can reference past bids, documents, and contractor history when posting future work.

I posted in the wrong category. Help?

Edit the project and update the trade category. Your existing bids stay, but new notifications go out to the corrected category.

Can contractors see how many bids I've received?

No. The bid count is private to you and your team. Contractors only see their own bid and its status.
